A new report from the Central Statistics Office shows that people living in County Donegal had the least amount of disposable income available to them in 2021.
The study by the CSO released today showed that there was an average disposable income in Donegal of €19,253 per person – that’s 21 percent below the state average, and €8,705 less than the average in Dublin of €27,958.
Between 2020 and 2021, the disposable income available to Donegal residents fell a further 2.2 percent behind the nationwide average, making the county the poorest in the state.
The study also found that the border areas as well as the midlands were the areas that fell consistently the most behind the state average income.
