The state funeral of the former Taoiseach John Bruton will be taking place in his home town of Dunboyne in County Meath this morning.

The former Fine Gael leader and long-time TD passed away earlier this week at the age of 76.

Large crowds gathered in Dunboyne for his removal service last night.

His funeral is taking place there this morning at 11am, with President Michael D Higgins and fellow Fine Gael party member and current Taoiseach Leo Varadkar expected to be amongst the many political representatives attending.
