Bundoran Fire Station Sub-Officer Tommy Hourihane is embarking on a new chapter in his career after bidding farewell to his colleagues yesterday.

Tommy will take up the role of Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) with Leitrim Fire Service.

His departure marks the end of an era for the team in Bundoran.

Station Officer Paul Kelly conveyed the well wishes of the entire crew in Bundoran and said: “Tommy and his family have given 20 years of Dedicated Service to Bundoran and surrounding areas of being on call with the Fire Brigade.

“We wish Tommy all the best in his new role, and a long rewarding career ahead. We will certainly miss him as an Officer and as a colleague, but no doubt we will still be meeting him at Firecalls in Co Leitrim and still having the good old fire banter with him.

“We always say the Fire Service is a Firefighters second family.”
