Setanta Hurling Club celebrated the perfect end to an amazing season on Saturday night, toasting the 2023 season with players, former players, family, friends & supporters at the Villa Rose Hotel in Ballybofey.

Brendan Devenney compered the evening together with club Secretary, Cora Harvey & Chairman, Simon McMenamin. The 1983 winning team were honoured and the crowd were treated to a trip down memory lane with former players, Kieran Doherty & Seamus Callaghan.

Next up was a lively Q&A with Kevin Campbell & Niall Cleary the player/manager duo who brought Setanta to Ulster glory in 2023.

Setanta proudly hosted a legendary guest speaker from Kilkenny for the second year in a row. Following Brian Cody last year, it was the highly decorated All-Ireland winner Richie Power who presented the Senior Team with their County & Ulster Intermediate Medals.

The following individual presentations were also made:

Senior Player of the Year – Gerard Gilmore
Young Player of the Year – Ruairi Campbell
Junior Player of the Year – Noel Ewing
U17 Player of the Year – Fionn Farren
All-Ireland Kilmacud 7’s Finalists acknowledgement- Dean Harvey on behalf of the 7’s team
Hall of Fame Award – Danny Cullen Senior
Club Person of the Year – Leona Cronolly McGee
Club Appreciation – Kathleen Campbell – 40 years of service to the club

A presentation was made to the management and backroom team after a successful season. Presentations were made to a dedicated group of club volunteers – Brian Harvey, Simon McMenamin, Danny Cullen & Ciaran O’Neill and their partners for the commitment to the club house development.

The club acknowledges the hard work of their two club referees – James Callaghan & Ciaran O’Neil, without which many games across the county could not be played. Presentations were made to Setanta’s loyal sponsors – Paddy & Shelley McMenamin from the The Hatter Tea Room.
