Sinn Fein unveiled their third candidate to stand in the local elections for the Letterkenny-Milford MD at a packed Wilkins Bar in Churchill last Thursday night.

Ulick Hughes (25) was selected much to the delight of the local community as well as his family and friends.

Ulick, who is a member of the McDevitt (The Nurse) family, will join Sandra Haughey and Councillor Gerry Mc Monagle on the SF ticket in the Letterkenny-Milford MD.

Mr Hughes has an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from ATU and a post graduate diploma in innovation from QUB. In his acceptance speech, he said it was an ‘absolute honour’ to have been selected.

“I’ll be standing alongside Gerry Mc Monagel and Sandra Haughey as the largest electoral team ever assembled in Donegal,” he said.

“I hope to be a positive voice for my community but I also hope to represent the views of young people if I am elected in June.”

Padraig Mac Lochlainn TD congratulated Ulick on his selection: “We will have the strongest ever Sinn Féin team of candidates running in this election and we are determined to deliver real and positive change for our people in Donegal and across Ireland.”
