Unstoppable Bríd ‘Winnie’ Sweeney from Loch an lúir has reached an incredible €10,000 milestone for Donegal Cancer Flights & Services – just two months into her 366-day walking challenge.

The well-known West Donegal woman is walking every day in 2024 – rain, hail or shine – including the extra leap year day!

Despite the 5.30am wake-up calls, she says she is “always grateful to help others while I can”.

Bríd braves the early mornings with her trusty headtorch

Bríd will continue fundraising throughout the year and it’s hoped she can boost even further for a hugely important cause.

She says: “I’m walking 366 days this year to raise money for the Donegal Cancer Flights and Services which is based in Ionad Naomh Padraig in Gweedore. This charity provides community support for cancer patients, with flights from Donegal Airport to Dublin, as well as ground transport to appointments in Galway, Roscommon, Sligo, Derry and Letterkenny. This charity also provides free counselling services, support and pamper days for cancer patients and their families.

“Unfortunately we all know someone with cancer, those in remission or receiving treatment. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will benefit cancer patients and their families.”

All donations are greatly appreciated and can be made at: https://gofund.me/efaf1fdd
