A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man in his 80s was discovered in Co Kerry yesterday.
The victim has been named as firearms dealer Patrick (Paddy) O’Mahony Snr, who was reportedly found dead with a gunshot wound outside his home in Castlemaine.
Gardaí today arrested a man aged in his 60s as part of this investigation. He is currently detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at a Garda Station in County Kerry.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out this afternoon at the mortuary in University Hospital Kerry by the State Pathologist, Dr. Bolster.
The scene is preserved for technical and forensic examination.
