Every day is certainly a school day.
But a number of Transition Year Pupils from PCC Falcarragh will certainly remember one of those such days after a visit to Letterkenny Courthouse this week.
As part of their transition year experience, the pupils sat in on a real-life sitting of Buncrana District Court which was held in Letterkenny.
The pupils were given a tour of the facilities and listened in to a number of cases being heard by Judge Eiteain Cunningham.
The task of welcoming the pupils and their teachers fittingly fell to a past pupil of PCC Falcarragh, well-known solicitor Frank Dorrian.
Mr Dorrian recalled his days at the West Donegal secondary school which he described as a “wonderful experience.”
He added that he still has many lifelong friends from his time spent at the school.
He told the visiting students “I wish you all well and I encourage you to learn from what you see here.”
The pupils were also welcomed by Judge Cunningham who said that Mr Dorrian, as an ex-pupil, you answer any questions they had and she would also be available after the court sitting for any questions.
The court service encourages visits from schools which must be arranged in advance.
