Former Donegal manager Rory Gallagher has ban lifted

Former Donegal and Derry manager Rory Gallagher is free to return to Gaelic games activity.

A temporary ban was placed on the Fermanagh native by the Ulster Council in September.

However, RTÉ Sport is reporting that the ban has been overturned by the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).

A statement by the Ulster Council, issued in September, as a result of allegations against Gallagher, stated: “Ulster GAA wish to confirm that Mr Rory Gallagher has been temporarily debarred, without prejudice, from the GAA until the Ulster GAA Safeguarding Panel conclude their work.

He had been involved with Corduff in Monaghan prior to the ban being imposed.

Gallagher had stepped back from his role as Derry manager last May following serious allegations regarding his private life.

In a social media posting, Gallagher’s former wife, Nicola, claimed she had been the victim of domestic violence over a period of years during their marriage.

Gallagher subsequently issued a statement through his solicitor saying the allegations against him had been “investigated and dealt with by the relevant authorities”.
