The current stretch of cold weather is set to extend throughout the weekend.

A nationwide status yellow warning for ice has just expired, but road users are being advised that there may still be some icy stretches this morning.

This afternoon will see a mix of scattered showers and some sunny spells, with temperatures reaching between 4 and 7 degrees.

However, tonight is again expected to be a cold one, with icy patches on the roads and frost cover also. There will be a mix of clear spells and scattered showers, mostly rain but with the potential for a few of them to be hail or snow.

Lowest temperatures overnight tonight between -2 and +1 degrees celsius.
