Sadness at passing of Bloodbikes volunteer Patrick Porter

Tributes have been paid to Patrick Porter who passed away yesterday.

Patrick, from Magheramore in Carndonagh, was a valued member of the Bloodbike Northwest Ireland group

Chairperson of the Bloodbike Northwest Ireland group, Patrick Doherty, paid tribute to Patrick on behalf of the group saying they are devastated by their friend’s passing.

He said “It is with a heavy heart that I have to write this message.

“Our dear friend and colleague, Pat Porter, has passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by his loving family.

“Pat has been a very active member of Bloodbike Northwest Ireland for many years. His never-ending commitment to helping others in need was evident for all to see. He was a true gentleman.

“Pat always had a smile and was always willing to help whenever needed.

“Pat will be forever remembered by all of us here at BBNWI.

“Our condolences, thoughts and prayers to Esther his wife, Andrea his daughter and the wider Porter family at this very sad time. Ar dheís go raibh a anam dilis.”

Patrick’s remains are reposing at his home with rosary each night at 9pm.

Funeral leaving his late home on Saturday, the 9th of March, at 10.30am to the Church of the Sacred Heart Carndonagh for requiem Mass at 11am with interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
