Tributes have been flowing in from across social media for a Buncrana fireman who is hanging up his gear.

Firefighter Mickey Donaghey has been a fireman with the Buncrana Fire and Rescue Service for over three decades.

After almost 33 years helping the people of Inishowen, the announcement of his retirement drew many warm messages on social media.

“Fantastic service to the people of Buncrana and surrounding areas. Enjoy your retirement Mickey, well deserved, from all at DL17 Ballyshannon,” one fellow fireman from across the county commented.

Another message read; “Congratulations on your retirement Mickey, thank you for your service and dedication! You will never know the many families and lives you have touched over the years!”

We here at Donegal Daily wish Mickey all the best in his retirement.
