It’s just days to go to the Letterkenny St.Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday 17th March and excitement is building.

The parade is one of the biggest in the County and this year Letterkenny Chamber is hoping to make this one another full on celebration with a festival atmosphere on the day.

This year St.Patrick’s Day marks the start of One Donegal Social Inclusion Week and the parade has lots of participants reflecting Social Inclusion.

One Donegal Social Inclusion Week is the opportunity to promote and highlight the positive work that the public and community sectors are involved in, to reduce discrimination, poverty and social exclusion but it is also an important opportunity to reflect on the challenges faced by vulnerable members of our community.

The Letterkenny Chamber is delighted to have sporting groups, dance studios, gymnastic clubs, community groups and schools all taking part this year. The parade as always is an opportunity to celebrate in style on this important national holiday.

Chamber President Claire McDonough said “Our committee has been working hard in an effort to make this as big a parade as last year. We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local business community because without their contributions the parade would not be possible.”

We were also delighted to secure Highland Radio as our Main Parade sponsor. Their support and that of all the other businesses is invaluable. St. Patrick’s Day is an important event in the calendar marking the start of the Spring season. This year it falls on a weekend, making it extra special so everyone in Letterkenny is looking forward to a fantastic few days of fun and celebration.

The Letterkenny Parade is fun, inclusive and colourful, a real family celebration.

“This year we have music at the stage with Callum Keavney from 1.30pm,  and as the crowds gather we have music on the street from 2pm with the Ukulele band at McGettigan’s Hotel and ‘Le Big Band Trad’ from Rodez, France at Blakes Bar. We have an opportunity for free photos at the photo booth at Market Square and we encourage as many families as possible to come along and join in the fun.”, explains Leonard Watson, the Chair of the St.Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. “

“The parade starts at 3pm, get your shamrocks on and join in the fun. Help us make this a St.Patrick’s Day to remember.”
