It was a good night for the Donegal teams in action against Cavan at the Kingspan Breffni Park last night.
Barry Ward’s Minor team followed up last week’s win over Fermanagh with a 2-13 to 0-13 points victory in the Ulster Minor League, Conor McCahill and Tomas Carr got the all important goals, that separated the teams, to make it two wins from two, a good start to their campaign.
Following that opener, the Under 20’s got their delayed Ulster Championship campaign off to a winning start with a 2-15 to 0-16 victory over the hosts.
Ardara’s Karl Joseph Molloy gave Donegal the perfect start with a goal in the first minute and a second goal late in the half by the impressive Patrick McElwee had Donegal ahead by 2-09 to 0-07 at half-time.
Cavan improved in the second half and reduced Donegal’s lead to four points on a couple of occasions but Shaun Paul Barrett’s men steadied the ship and ran out fairly comfortable five points winners in the end, a good start to their championship campaign.
