‘We need our boy home’ – Family distraught as search for missing man enters 12th day

The family of much-loved missing Strabane man Jordan Gallagher has issued an appeal for “a huge push of help” from volunteers.

Jordan Gallagher, who is in his early twenties, was last seen on Saturday 3rd March close to his home in Ballycolman.

A major search has been ongoing along the banks of the Mourne and Foyle after reports that a man may have entered the river. Lifford Bridge was closed for a period on the night of his disappearance.

Teams of volunteers have been searching for the past 12 days, with generous support from local businesses offering food and warm shelter.

Jordan’s family has called for river bank searchers, experienced kayakers and drone pilots to join the effort.

“As we near the end of the second week without our precious Jordan, we want to thank every person who has aided in the search operation for Jordan no matter how small or big. We are eternally grateful for you all,” they said.

“We as a family are distraught at the thought of Jordan being alone in the darkness of the water. We pray hard that God will spare us anymore anguish and give Jordan back to us.

“That being said, we will not give up. We are asking for a huge push of help going forward. We need eyes on the water. We need our boy home.

“We are appealing to anyone that is able to help us to please join us at 10am each morning or 4pm each afternoon to help us walk the river bank.

“There is so much to do to keep those eyes on the water. We know it is repetitive, we know it’s disheartening but every time we walk the river bank, we give Jordan the greatest chance at coming home.”

Further search details are posted on the Strabane Sigersons GAA Facebook page daily.
