Man dies after being struck by lorry in Letterkenny

A male pedestrian in his 30s has died following a collision involving a lorry in Letterkenny this morning.

The incident occurred shortly before 6am on the Letterkenny-Ramelton road, between the Thorn Road and the Golf Course Road junction.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

The lorry driver was uninjured.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses, while the road remains closed pending a technical examination. Local diversions are in place.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R245 at Magheranan in Letterkenny between the hours of 5am and 6am this morning are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
