Cavan 0-05 v 4-20 Donegal
The Donegal Ladies side put on a splendid display against Cavan at the Max McGrath Memorial Park in this Division 2 National Football League contest.
With Donegal looking to secure a strong finish and carry momentum in the Ulster Championship, they took to the pitch in Cavan with intent from the outset, with Katie Dowds and Suzanne White getting the scoring underway – White also having a goal disallowed in the tenth minute.
That would have little impact though as Donegal kept the pressure on and left Cavan with little opportunity to strike back, Katy Herron slotting in the first of Donegal’s goals in the 20th minute – with Donegal up 1-08 to 0-01 at the half.
Cavan knocked over two points to start the second half, but that ended up being a false dawn as Katy Herron netted her second goal of the game, before Suzanne White struck for Donegal’s third goal amidst a raft of scores.
Jodie McFadden then struck Donegal’s fourth goal of the game at the 15 minute mark of the second half, to make the score 4-13 to 0-04.
Donegal kept their foot on the pedal, adding 7 further scores over to land a comprehensive win over their provincial rivals.
The Donegal Ladies side will look to cement their third-placed position in the Division 2 table against Tipperary next weekend, before the Ulster Championship gets underway.
