A driver without insurance has been charged to appear in court after being caught parking in a disabled bay in Carndonagh without a permit.
On St. Patrick’s Day, Gardaí in Carndonagh noticed the missing permit on a car parked in a disabled bay.
Gardaí stopped to speak with the driver and it transpired that the driver did not have a disabled parking permit nor did they have insurance. As a result, the car was seized.
A garda spokesperson said: “The driver will now receive a fine and a court summons. Carndonagh Gardaí will continue to monitor disabled bays in the town to ensure that they are kept free for those who need them.”
“Should you be detected parked/stopped in a disabled parking bay and you do not hold a valid permit to be there, you will be liable to pay a fixed charge penalty notice of €150. Please think before you park and have consideration for the needs of others.”
