Men arrested in Creeslough explosion probe released without charge

Two men who were arrested yesterday in connection with investigations into the Creeslough explosion have been released without charge.

The men, both aged in their 50s, were arrested in relation to alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

Gardaí say that their investigations are ongoing, and that they intend to submit a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

An Garda Síochána said they were making no futher comments at this time, and did not make a spokesperson available for comment regarding the matter.

The explosion at the service station and apartment building on the 7th of October 2022 took the lives of ten people, including four men, three women and three young people, ranging in ages from five to 59.

Robert Garwe and his five-year-old daughter Shauna Flanagan-Garwe, Catherine O’Donnell and her 13-year-old son James Monaghan, Jessica Gallagher, Martin McGill, James O’Flaherty, Martina Martin, Hugh Kelly and 14-year-old Leona Harper died in the explosion.
