A 69 year old man has died following a viscious attack in County Down on Thursday.
Police say that Bobby McKee was pronounced dead in his home at Newcastle Road, Kilkeel, following the assault which also left his wife with serious injuries.
A 25 year old man was arrested in connection with the attacks, with Police keeping the man in custody for an extended period of time for questioning.
Police Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Kelly said that “a 25-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, remains in custody at this time. He is currently being questioned by detectives.”
“Enquiries are ongoing in order to determine exactly what has happened. However, at this time, we are not treating this as a firearms-related report.”
