The annual festivities hosted by the Donegal Youth Service in Letterkenny inspired a big turnout from the county’s young people looking to enjoy the national holiday.
Their annual St Patrick’s Day Party saw over 200 people attending, with members from Elevate 55 and the Youth Information teams helping to provide an alcohol-free and family-friendly Paddy’s Day.
There were many families availing of the opportunity to enjoy some face painting, hair braiding, arts and crafts and sensory activities as well as to discover what the Donegal Youth Service has to offer. The day was topped off with live music from a number of talented local young bands and solo musicians.
Laura Byrne, an Elevate55 Youth Worker, said that it “was a great chance for all ages to socialise and celebrate. It was fantastic to see so many young people enjoying themselves and having such a fun day which was made possible by funding from the Northwest Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force.”
Lorraine Thompson, the CEO of the Donegal Youth Service said that “the annual DYS St Patrick’s Day party is always a great success. Young people have told us they love having somewhere to come and hang out with their friends and enjoy the day. We go all out with music, food and fun-what’s not to love!”
