Information events on Affordable Housing Scheme taking place across Donegal

Donegal County Council is carrying out an online survey in respect of the Local Authority Affordable Housing Scheme.

This scheme aims to help people on moderate incomes to buy new homes at an initially reduced price. New homes under this scheme are located in areas with the greatest housing need and where affordability is a problem.

Donegal is not yet included in the national Local Authority Affordable Housing Scheme. The purpose of this survey is to gather data on the demand for the scheme in County Donegal and to determine the potential numbers eligible under the terms of the scheme.

Depending on the outcome of the survey, the Council may seek approval from the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage for Donegal to be included in the scheme. If approval is obtained, a separate formal application process will be established and advertised.

The Council encourages anybody who is interested in the scheme to complete the survey.  The Council is holding an information day at the following venues on Thursday, 28 March from 10am to 4:00pm:

Three Rivers Centre, Lifford, F93 Y622

The BASE Enterprise Centre, Railway Road, Stranorlar, F93 A0E4

Public Services Centre, Drumlonagher, Donegal Town, F94 DK6C

Public Services Centre, Gweedore Road, Dungloe, F94 H4CF

Public Services Centre, Malin Road, Carndonagh, F93 YV1N

Public Services Centre Neil T. Blaney Road, Letterkenny, F92 TNY3

The survey will be remain open for completion until Friday, 12 April 2024 and can be accessed through the Council’s website at www.donegalcoco.ie and at Affordable Housing Survey 2024 | Donegal County Council’s Online Consultation Portal.

Further details on the Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme are available at Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme (citizensinformation.ie) and Step-by-Step Guide | Affordable Homes Ireland.
