Donegal Gardaí have urged members of the public to drink alcohol ‘responsibly’ over the Bank Holiday weekend.
If you are going out socialising over the next few nights, they said, please note the following advice:
• Drink alcohol responsibly.
• Do not drive while under the influence.
• Plan your night out, tell someone where you are going & when you’ll be back.
• Don’t let your friends or family walk home alone, there is safety in numbers.
• If you have to walk, stick to well-lit areas and make sure you can be seen by passing traffic (reflective gear/torch).
• Take care when carrying personal property (handbag, smart phone, cash etc.) in crowded areas, keep them in a safe location within your view.
• Watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas; Keep handbags zipped and don’t keep your wallet in your back pocket. In bars and restaurants, be careful about where you store coats and handbags.
• Park your car in a secure/well-lit area. Ensure that your car is locked. Do not keep valuables such as cash, jewellery or electronics in your car.
