A man in his thirties has been arrested and charged following a two-car crash in west Donegal this afternoon in which four people were injured.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision which occurred on the N56 at Dungloe at approximately 1.10pm.

The driver of the first car, and the three female passengers, one aged in her 50’s and two aged in their 60’s, were brought to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment for their injuries, believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

“The male driver of the second car (30’s) was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, at a Garda Station in the Donegal area,” a garda spokesperson said.

“He has since been charged and will appear before the courts at a later date. Investigations are ongoing.”

The road is currently open.
