Gardaí in Ballyshannon caught a driver who set back the wrong kind of clock on the eve of daylight saving time beginning.
After the van was seeized yesterday, Gardaí discovered a mismatch on their database.
When cross-checking the van’s CVRT information on their records, they found that the van’s odometer had been turned back over 22,000 kilometres from records in 2022.
In a statement on social media, Gardaí reminded the public that it is illegal to interfere or engage another person to interfere with an odometer under the Road Traffic Act, 2014.
Gardaí say that matter will now be investigated further, and are asking the public not to go “Back to the Future” with their own vehicles.
