Gardai in the Ballyshannon District yesterday began Operation Enable.

This is a multi-agency initiative between An Garda Síochána, Donegal County Council, the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland (DDAI) and the Irish Wheelchair Association.

Operation Enable commenced at 8am yesterday morning, April 1st and will conclude at 8am on Monday the 8th of April 2024.

The objective of the Operation is to target the unauthorised use of disabled parking bays and disabled parking permits within the Ballyshannon District.

Gardai say an additional focus of the Operation will be to target other forms of illegal parking within the Ballyshannon District.

These include parking on ‘dropped footpaths’ and any other type of parking that interferes with or restricts the free movement of people with disabilities/limited mobility.
