Almost 2,500 homes in County Donegal have had their power cut out this morning as Storm Kathleen arrives.

A total of 1,200 homes in the Buncrana area were without power for some time this morning, with the ESB carrying out emergency repair works. A total of 419 homes are still without power there. Update: ESB now say that a repair may not be completed in Buncrana for those without power until 9pm tonight.

595 premises in the Glencolmbcille area are currently without electricity, with the ESB saying that power should be restored in the coming minutes also.

In Killybegs 554 homes have just lost power. The ESB are estimating that repairs will be completed at 12:30pm this afternoon there.

Also 92 premises are without electricity in Dungloe, with power there not expected to be restored until 2pm this afternoon.

Elsewhere there are smaller outages in Derrybeg and the Ballyshannon areas also currently being worked on by repair crews, with a total of 32 customers affected in those areas.

You can keep track of outages and updates via the ESB’s Power Check website: https://powercheck.esbnetworks.ie/index.html
