National: Pedestrian dies after early-morning collision

A man in his 40s has died following an early-morning accident in County Cork.

Gardaí say that the man was struck by a vehicle as he was walking on the N25 in Midleton.

The incident took place at 1:30am this morning.

A forensic examination of the scene is due to take place, and Gardaí have appealed for witnesses.
