DCB scheme in focus at free Inishowen Co-Op Home Build event this Saturday

Following on from the huge success of Inishowen Co-Op Home Build event in 2023 they return to the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, 11 – 4pm on Saturday April 13th with a new and improved show for 2024.

Created to support all in the region who are building, extending, improving or simply decorating their home, the Co-Op have invited many of their major suppliers in the home build trade to join them on the day. Offering expert knowledge and the latest trends on products such as flooring, plumbing, roofing, insulation, solar energy and much much more including entire home build options.

This year Inishowen Co-Op will be joined and supported by Inishowen Development Partnership who will be hosting a step-by-step presentation for homeowners on the Enhanced Defective Concrete Block Scheme.

Inishowen’s DCB Facilitator Michelle Coyle will provide a comprehensive guide on how homeowners can access the scheme, the application processes and an overview for those intending to do self-builds. 

IDP’s Joint CEO Shauna McClenaghan said they are delighted to be collaborating with Inishowen Co-Op for their popular Home Build Event, adding that the two organisations have a long history of working together. 

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Inishowen Co-Op once again,” said Shauna.

“Our DCB Facilitator Michelle has an in-depth knowledge on the Enhanced Redress Scheme and has helped more than one thousand individuals since she joined IDP last year and we are delighted to have the chance to share her knowledge with even more DCB homeowners through the Co-Op’s Home Event on April 13th,” added Shauna. 

Visitors on the day will benefit from the advice of over 50 exhibitors, experts in a wide range of home build sectors. With the opportunity to discuss your own project with these suppliers in a 1-2-1 setting. Ask questions of the experts behind the brands.

Experienced architects Shane Doherty and John McCay, who have a wealth of experience with Defective Concrete Block properties, will also speak at the IDP information session on their experiences with rebuilds and the administration process around the scheme itself. 

From doors and windows to flooring and heating, energy efficiency and internal completion Inishowen Co-Op have planned the day around your home build requirements.

Gareth Whitmore general manager of Inishowen Co-Op says: “Following on from the huge success of our Inishowen Co-Op event last year we are delighted once more to gather all the experts together, whether its expert knowledge on DCB, rebuild, new build – supporting locals with what we have here in our region to help with their home build journey.”

With regards to the collaboration with Inishowen Development Partnership Gareth said: “It is fitting, that Inishowen Co-Op join forces with the team in IDP for events to support and build our community. Like ourselves they work and live very much by Co-Cooperative values and principles.”
