Award-winning Derry school principal Marie Lindsay, a native of Muff, has been appointed to Northern Ireland’s Board of the Education Authority (EA).
Ms Lindsay is a retired school principal of St Mary’s College, Derry. She is a Governor of St. Eugene’s Primary School, chairperson of the Board of Management of an Irish school and a member of Council at Ulster University.
The proud Donegal woman is an ‘honorary Derry girl’ who started her started her career teaching science in 1985 at St. Mary’s College. She was appointed Principal in 2006 and retired in 2020.
In 2016, Marie was named as Principal of the Year at the Foyle Blackboard Awards Ceremony. In 2021 she was honoured with a Pearson National Teaching Silver Award, having received the award for Lifetime Achievement.
She was among 12 new board members appointed by Education Minister Paul Givan this week.
“The education sector and the EA are facing unprecedented challenges and the appointment of these members, each with their own expertise and skills, will prove invaluable in taking forward a programme of transformation to address these issues,” Minister Givan said.
