U12 Match Reports Monday 8th April 2024
Under 12 Girls Group 1
Lagan Harps 1 – 1 Illistrin
A draw was a fair result in a very even game. Illistrin took the lead on ten minutes with a great individual goal from Eabha Mc Kinney. Lagan equalised on twenty-five minutes after a good run and finish from Emily Mc Mahon. Taylor Doherty saved her first effort, but Emily put away the rebound. Both teams more or less cancelled each other out in midfield and both defences were solid. Likora Kolsut Mc Daid and Thea Rodgers were excellent in defence for Lagan. Katie Gildea had two good efforts narrowly wide in the second half while Ella Clarke battled hard up front. Clodagh Kavanagh and Emily Mc Mahon battled hard in midfield while Aoife Doherty and Amelia Mc Laughlin were excellent for Illistrin. All in all, a really hard-fought encounter, with a draw a fair outcome.
U12 Girls Group 2
Donegal Town 1 – 2 Drumbar United
Drumbar took all 3 points after a 2-1 victory over Donegal Town in the Hospital Field , in a tightly contested affair it was 0-0 at half time with little chances for either team , Drumbar took the lead 15 into 2 nd half after an attack down the left and a neat finish , they doubled their lead 3 minutes later after a corner ended up in the net after hitting a defender , Donegal kept battling and scored with a good strike from Sophie, however Drumbar stood strong to hold out for all 3 points in a good sporting game.
U12 Girls Group 5
Glenree United 3 – 4 Mulroy Academy
On a lovely night for football in Glenree it was Mulroy that left with the three points in a very high scoring entertaining game. Glenree opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a strike from Eilis that gave the goalkeeper no chance. Towards the end of the half Mulroy equalised with an unfortunate own goal by a Glenree defender that looped into the net. Half Time score was Glenree United 1 Mulroy Academy 1. Mulroy opened the scoring through Alice with a low finish. Erin with a superb free kick levelled the game but almost straight away Alice ran from midfield to put Mulroy ahead again. She got her hat trick shortly after with a powerful strike from the edge of the box giving Abbie no chance in the Glenree goals. Back came Glenree again and Eilis broke through the Mulroy defence to score and cut the deficit to a goal. Try as they could Glenree could not find an equaliser and Mulroy held out for a hard earned win. Final score was Glenree United 3 Mulroy Academy 4. Some great performance on both teams with end to end football.

Both teams played well especially Laila Devenney and Erin Rafferty for Letterkenny and Rebecca McBride and Lucy Martin for Swilly
U16 Match Reports Wednesday 10th April 2024
Group 1
Lagan Harps 1 – 4 Bonagee Utd
Lagan started the season with a battling performance but found Bonagee just too strong. Lagan put on some early pressure but didn’t really threaten. Bonagee opened the scoring on twenty minutes when we failed to clear the ball and Aoife Porter scored. They went 2-0 up on twenty-eight minutes when Chloe Creevy scored after Ciara Cullen had pulled off a great save. Lagan started the second half well but Bonagee hit back with a quick break and Ellen Temple scored. Lagan continued to press forward with Clara Gallagher going on some great runs. Bonagee settled the game on sixty-seven minutes when Maria Mc Laughlin scored with a cracking shot from twenty five yards. To their credit Lagan kept going and Ebony Griffin pulled one back with a good finish from a narrow angle.
Ballyraine 3 – 3 Letterkenny Rovers
In the second round of the U16 Donegal Women’s League Ballyraine and Rovers played out an exciting 3 – 3 draw in difficult conditions at Errigal College on Wednesday night.
Savanna Keys gave Rovers an early lead when she finished well from just outside the box. Grace McGlynn soon equalised with a superb long-range effort after picking the ball up in midfield. Emer Cassidy with a quick fire double sent Ballyraine in 3 – 1 up at the break. Rovers came out all guns blazing in the second period, however it looked like Ballyraine would hold on for the win and indeed had chances to wrap up the points. Ballyraine were made to pay when Amy Moore reduced the deficit with 10 minutes remaining and the same player stepped up to earn a share of the spoils with a last minute penalty. Good team performances in difficult conditions.
Group 2
Finn Valley 1 – 2 Drumbar Utd
Despite horrible weather conditions Drumbar won the match 2-1 in a very end to end game. Drumbar played the first half with the wind and the Finn Valley defence held strong until a through ball for Drumbar’s Amy Ward made it 1-0. Just before half time a slight mix up in Finn Valley’s defence allowed Drumbar’s Sarah Colhoun pounce on the mistake and she slotted past Finn Valley’s goalkeeper. In the second half Finn Valley stepped up the play with some great football. Drumbar’s defence held strong with some fine saves from their goalkeeper until Finn Valley’s Rachel Harron latched onto a loose ball to bring FVWFC back to 2-1. Near the end Finn Valley’s Brooke Byrne hit the post from a free kick. Drumbar’s defence held firm until the final whistle. Excellent team performances from both teams.
U14 Match Reports Friday 12th April 2024
Group 1
Raphoe Town 0 – 4 Lagan Harps
High winds again tonight as u14 girls play out a good game against Lagan. Lagan the victors on the night with two goals each half. Both halves were evenly contested but Lagan more clinical in front if goal. All the girls did really well tonight and we got good success out on the wings with Cara, LilyRose, Lily and Farah getting away on occasions but the Lagan Goalkeeper Ciara Cullen was sharp to react and pick up any loose balls. Two shots from play saw Lagan go in ahead at halftime. Second half saw Lylah in goals along with central defenders Brooke Johnson and Leigha McGinley again have good performances calmy clearing up and working the ball up through the back, supported by Aoife Rose ,Tori and Sarah all looking to play forward to our midfield. Unfortunately, Amy Lateef hit a lovely strike outside our 18yrd box to put the visitors 3 up. The girls continued to play with Eva, Skylar and Aoife looking to set Katie away upfront. Loads to take away from this game as the girls continue learn.
Ballyraine 2 – 1 Bonagee United
Ballyraine made it two wins from two with a hard-fought victory over neighbours Bonagee United at Errigal College. Central defender Aoife Kenna was moved into the holding midfield role for the match and the change paid off as she helped herself to two goals. The away side had the majority of the possession in the first half with a very strong wind behind them. The chances were limited in the first half with neither keeper having much to do. In the second half Aoife Kenna scored from distance with a looping freekick that evaded the Bonagee keeper. She then doubled Ballyraine’s lead with a deflected effort on 53 minutes. Bonagee continued to press but the Ballyraine defence were solid. The strong breeze hindered Bonagee and Ballyraine could have made it three when Eadaoin Kennedy was played through with a weighted pass from Grace McGlynn but her namesake in the Bongeee goal pulled of a great save to deny her. Bonagee got a reward from their pressure when Aine McDaid parried a shot into the path of the tireless Tara McDaid, who escaped her marker and prodded the ball home with 5 minutes left on the clock. Ballyraine held on to take all three points. Both teams worked hard and should be proud of their efforts.
Group 2
Cappry 1- 2 Donegal Town
Great evening for a game and it was a very tight effort with Cappry going in front after a great finish by Alison Imbuli. Donegal grew into the game and had a few chances but great saves by Amy Carroll. Donegal scored after 25 minutes.
Second half was very even but Donegal took the lead with 5 minutes to go and won the game 2-1. Great game by both girls.
Group 4
Milford United 3 – Mulroy Academy
Milford came out top in their first home game in a blustery Moyle View park. Milford playing with the wind in the first half went ahead after 10 minutes when Aoibheann Blaney latched onto a great through ball and toe poked the ball past the oncoming Nhi McDaid in the Mulroy goal. Megan McGinley scored the second with a well taken shot which flew into the top corner on twenty minutes. Mulroy’s best chances came from dangerous corners from Aisling Duffy. Milford finished the half three up when Kara McAteer forced an error and went on to finish from close range. Mulroy with the wind behind them in the second half had a lot more of the ball but were unable to create too many clear-cut chances. Both teams battled hard in tough conditions with Milford delighted with their clean sheet and three points.
