A church leader and multiple worshippers have been stabbed during a service in Sydney’s west on Monday night.
The attack occurred at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley.
The sermon was being live-streamed at the time of the attack. Video footage showed a man lunging at Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel and striking him with a weapon.
Members of the congregation are then seen rushing to the altar.
Four people suffered non-life threatening injuries and are being treated by NSW ambulance paramedics.
Police have confirmed they have arrested a male and he is assisting police with inquiries.
The incident comes just two days after six people were stabbed to death at Sydney’s Westfield Bondi Junction. The attacker was later shot dead by a police officer. Five women and a male security guard lost their lives in the attack.
