A ‘pay it forward’ initiative started by young people at the Family Resource Centre (FRC) in Raphoe last week has already spread to places as far away as Spain.
Last Tuesday, youths based at the centre wanted to capture and record the small acts of kindness and gratitude that many people do on a daily basis.
‘Pay it forward’ is when someone does something for you, but instead of paying that person back directly, you pass it on to another person.
“The idea is that all of this will remain anonymous, but we at FRC would like you to pass on any kindness that has been shown to you,” a spokesperson for the centre explains.
“Like paying it forward, we have decided with the young people that we will call this A Kindness Waterfall.”
The ‘Kindness Waterfall’ works when someone receives an act of kindness, they share the special QR code (below) given to them along with their own unique acts of kindness for another person. As a result, the FRC can record the acts and let their young people see if they can capture all the ‘great good deeds’ that are happening.
“We want our young people to always remain hopeful and strive to reach all of their goals,” the spokesperson added.
“A simple small act of kindness can change lives, so we ask you to complete this simple questionnaire to track our Kindness Waterfall and its distance travelled.”
Capture and share your kind deeds with Raphoe FRC by filling in the questionnaire using the QR code below:
