A series of information evenings aimed at those affected, or who have been affected, by cancer are currently being held across the county.
Run in conjunction with Relay for Life Donegal and the Irish Cancer Society, the sessions provide briefings for cancer survivors, those living with the disease, and patients currently undergoing treatment.
Family and friends are also invited along. “Cancer survivors and carers are our beacons of hope and treated as our V.I.P. guests over the weekend of Relay for Life which is being held over twenty-four hours on Saturday and Sunday, May 25th and 26th,” said chairperson of Relay for Life Donegal, Seamus Devine.
This Thursday (18th), an information night will be held in Solace Cancer Support Service in Donegal Town commencing at 7.30.p.m.
On Thursday week (25th), Ionad Naomh Padraig at Dobhar, Bunbeg, will be the venue for another session, also starting at 7.30.p.m.
Such events have already been held in Buncrana and Ballybofey this month.
Relay for Life is the biggest cancer fundraising initiative across the world and sees communities coming together celebrate cancer survivors, to remember loved ones lost to cancer, and to stand shoulder to shoulder with those facing cancer.
“Relay for Life is a celebration of solidarity and helps to raise awareness of the services provided by the Irish Cancer Society locally and nationally. It has something to offer everyone, so please do join us to find out more about this amazing event,” the chairperson appealed.
