Pet owners in the Ramelton area have been warned to keep their pet safe after a cat was shot with a pellet gun.

A shocked cat owner in the area contacted the Animals in Need charity to alert them of their incident.

The incident happened on Wednesday last in the Castle Street or Back Lane area.

The shocked pet owner revealed “My cat got out for ten minutes on Wednesday last and got shot in the hip with a pellet gun.

“The vet had to surgically remove said pellet, causing much distress and pain to an innocent animal. To say we are angry is an understatement.

“I am reporting this incident to the local ISPCA on advice from the vet.”
