Tributes have been paid to a 27-year-old Belfast man who was killed in a car crash in Sydney.
Ryan Straney (27), from West Belfast, was killed in a collision after an elderly driver travelled the wrong way along a motorway.
His car was one of three vehicles hit by the 96-year-old driver at around 4.40am local time on Monday. Mr Straney died at the scene and three other drivers in other vehicles, including the 96-year-old man, were taken to hospital.
An investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Ryan’s heartbroken community in Belfast have paid tribute to him as a talented GAA player and an “absolute gentleman”.
In a post on their social media account, Official Antrim GAA said: “We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Lámh Dhearg CLG and the entire community on the shock passing of Ryan Straney.
“Ryan was a member of their Senior Football team and has been in Australia. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends at this deeply sad time.
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
