The wonderful array of drawings received shows the creative ability of the children in our schools.

Pamela Smullen, Road Safety/Active Travel Officer, Donegal County Council said, “I would like to congratulate all the winners and thank the school communities for getting behind this very important Road Safety Initiative. This year’s competition has received great engagement from students across all age groups with strong messages of safe travel to school and the essential practices for pedestrian and cyclist safety. The competition provides an important platform to discuss road safety and increases awareness of remaining safe as we travel.”

Aisling Dignam, Manager, Finn Harps Academy stated, “This competition is very popular with the Primary School children and Finn Harps are delighted to continue our partnership with the Donegal Road Safety Working Group and Donegal County Council to promote Road Safety Awareness in Donegal. It is great to see that the pupils, through their drawings, are contributing to raising awareness in their daily lives of the dangers on our roads.

Children are amongst our most vulnerable road users, so we all have a responsibility to make sure they develop good road safety habits at an early age. We wish to acknowledge the help and assistance of teachers who work enthusiastically to ensure that children of all ages are aware of the dangers on our roads”.
