Unique photoshoot at ‘condemned’ Raphoe Playgroup building

Past pupils of the Raphoe Community Playgroup are being urged to return this weekend for a unique photoshoot.

A campaign was launched last month to raise €1 million to save the building which is facing certain closure over its defective blocks issue.

The playgroup has been in operation for over 40 years, however, its building is to be ‘condemned’ at the end of June due to safety concerns.

Since 1982, thousands of children and their families have availed their services.

The group’s manager, Fiona McCrabbe, has arranged a photoshoot at the playgroup this Sunday, April 21, at 1pm.

“All past pupils and their families, dating back to 1982, are invited to have a large group picture taken by a drone,” she explains.

“Families will also be invited to see hundreds of past photos and view the premises.”

In addition, a charity football tournament has been organised by Raphoe Town Football Club at Drumuneney, Raphoe, at 3pm to raise funds for the playgroup.

They hope the events will bring the awareness that their playgroup needs. They also want the public, and the government, to see the thousands of families that have joined them on their journey.
