A big-hearted Ballybofey couple have put others first by donating the proceeds of their joint 60th birthday party to both the Donegal Hospice and Letterkenny University Hospital.
Paul and Jackie McCafferty celebrated the milestone event with family and friends with a joint party at Stranorlar Gold Club.
But between the joy and laughter, the popular couple were still thinking of others.
Both had encountered a little sadness in their own lives earlier this year when Jackie’s father Jack Baskin passed away on the 8th of January while Paul’s mother Mary McCafferty passed away just a week later on 16th January.
Both received loving care and attention from staff at Letterkenny Hospital and the Donegal Hospice in their final days.
And so Paul and Jackie decided they wanted to give something back and requested that instead of gifts they would request family and friends to make donations if they were in a position to do so.

In the end the couple raised a staggering €1860 which was divided equally between the Hospital and Hospice.
Paul and Jackie had a wonderful night but made sure to thank all the staff in both Letterkenny A&E and the Donegal Hospice who were so kind and attentive in Jack and Mary’s last days.
Also a big thank you to all the family, friends and neighbours who attended the 60th birthday party recently and donated to this cause.
