Two Donegal locations have earned themselves a spot on the Irish Independent’s Fab 50 list for 2024.

The Fab 50 list names the 50 best locations in Ireland for holidaymakers to stay.

Fanad Head Lighthouse and Narosa were the two Donegal properties that got a spot on the list and high praise from the Indo.

In spot 39, the Fanad Head Lighthouse has you feeling “like you’re at the end of the world” according to the list, especially “once the lighthouse visitors depart, you’ll feel like the you’re the only person for miles”.

There is also high praise for the cottages available for budding tourists to stay in at Fanad, with the review commenting that “all have incredible sea views, but are delightfully cozy inside, with wood-burning stoves and big comfy armchairs.”

Narosa makes the list at 42, earning plaudits for its prime location and great facilities for surfers.

“If you’re a surfer, the accommodation at Narosa will be right up your alley,” the Indo states, raving about its location also being next to “the best local waves in Dunfanaghy, at the base of County Donegal’s Horn Head Peninsula.”

High praise is also given in particular to the Captain’s Tiny House, one of the options to stay in at Narosa.

“Captain’s Tiny House (sleeping two) is particularly cute, converting a garage into a cool studio with a mezzanine bed, full kitchen and cozy sofa.”
