The Taoiseach has apologised to the families of the Stardust nightclub fire victims, 43 years after the tragic blaze.
A total of 48 young people lost their lives, with an inquest this week finding that their deaths were unlawful – a fact victims’ families had been campaigning to be recognised ever since that fateful night on Valentine’s Day, 1981.
Taoiseach Simon Harris met with families this afternoon, and it’s understood that he offered a full apology to family representatives.
A full state apology is also to be offered in the Dail, with families being invited to witness the proceedings.
The names of all 48 victims will also be read out as part of the Government’s apology and tribute to the Stardust victims.
