Gardaí are investigating the theft, and subsequent return, of a 4X4 from a Letterkenny business at the weekend.

A grey Toyota Rav 4 was taken from a premises at Bonagee, Letterkenny on the night of Sunday the 28th of April.

The following morning, the owner of the premises realised that the vehicle had been moved from where it had originally been parked and then noticed that the passenger window had been smashed.

CCTV footage indicated that the vehicle had been stolen at approx. 10.50pm from the yard and it was returned half an hour later at approx. 11.20pm.

Sergeant Eunan Walsh described the incident as ‘peculiar’ as he appealed for witnesses.

He said: “The partial registration of the jeep in question is ’08 DL 11’. If anybody travelled in the area of Bonagee on Sunday night with a dash cam between 10.30pm and 11.30pm, we ask them to make the footage available to Gardaí. If anybody observed the jeep in question out on the roads or if they have any relevant information we ask them to contact Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100.”
