Two young people have died in a single-vehicle crash on the A5 near Omagh last night.

The PSNI said a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were killed when a blue BMW crashed on the Doogary Road, near the Fintona junction.

The incident happened around 9.50pm last night.

The road is part of the A5 which is due for a major upgrade.

The Irish Government has pledged hundreds of millions of euros to the project.

The road links counties Donegal and Monaghan through Derry and Tyrone and is considered one of the most dangerous roads in the country.

The Doogary Road has been reopened.
