Donegal fiddlers win top accolade at Gradam Ceoil TG4 Awards

Donegal’s Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí received the Outstanding Contribution Award at this years Gradam Ceoil TG4 Awards in Limerick on Sunday night last.

And who better to present them with their award than renowned Donegal musician Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh.

 

The group includes Caoimhín Mac Aoidh, Rab Cherry, Ellie Ní Fhonnghaile, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Aidan O’Donnell, Dermot McLaughlin & Conor Caldwell. 

This year’s Gradam Ceoil concert took place at the University Concert Hall Limerick on Sunday May 5th,  when the award recipients performed alongside musical collaborators.

With the event broadcast live, the electrifying atmosphere resonated far beyond the venue, making Gradam Ceoil a highlight in TG4’s annual programming schedule.

The selection process for Gradam Ceoil recipients is conducted by a panel of experts appointed by TG4, ensuring that each honoree exemplifies the highest standards of excellence within the tradition, ensuring that the legacy of Irish traditional music continues to thrive and evolve.

Gradam Ceoil TG4 was established in 1998 to honour and celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to Irish traditional music.

Through its prestigious awards ceremony, TG4 Gradam Ceoil highlights the richness, depth, and dynamism of the traditional music landscape, providing a platform for both seasoned veterans and emerging talents alike .
