There are calls for the installation of public toilets for tourists visiting Muckish mountain and the enhanced railway walk.
Sinn Féin Cllr John Sheamais Ó Fearraigh says toilets are now a necessity in Creeslough at the foot of Muckish mountain where a new car park has been developed.
This is the second recent request for improved facilities in popular Donegal destinations after Aontú candidate Mick Harkin highlighted the lack of toilets at the foot of Errigal.
The car park at Muckish, a joint project between Donegal County Council and the Muckish Development Committee, has seen a significant increase in usage, particularly during good weather. The nearby railway walk is also very popular with both locals and visitors.
Cllr John Sheamais Ó Fearraigh – August 2023 – Works started on the Creeslough Railway walk with the Development of a car park
Speaking today, Cllr Ó Fearraigh said: “A number of people have asked me to bring the issue to the attention of the council. Toilets will be a necessity given the amount of tourists already coming to the area.
“I have contacted Donegal County Council in relation to providing toilets at the carpark. I think it is very important and I want to see movement made on this issue.
“I think it is very important that the facilities are put in place here to fulfil the area’s tourism potential and also for our local people that are using the carpark.”
