Two legendary Finn Harps supporters launched their unique history book on the club at the weekend.
‘We are the Harps’, by Joe Doherty and Bartley Ramsay (main pic), charts all 628 players who have represented the club since 1969.
It was launched in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey, on Saturday in the company of members of Harps’ FAI Cup winning team from 1974. They included captain Jim Sheridan, Charlie Ferry, Gerry McGranaghan, Joe Harper and Gerry Murray as well as manager Patsy McGowan. Current Finn Harps boss, Darren Murphy, was also there as well as former players Con McLaughlin, Joe Logan, Michael Funston, Tom Mohan and Eloka Asokhu. Sports journalist and author, Chris McNulty, was MC for the launch.

When the final whistle was blown on the game between Bray Wanderers and Finn Harps last October, it brought to an end the club’s 2002 competitive game in senior football and also drew the curtain on Harps’ 55th season in the League of Ireland.
“Whether it was Jonathan Minnock, who played in 485 games, or the 73 players who managed to see action in just a single game each, all have contributed to the history of the club in their first 55 years in senior football,” Joe Doherty explained.
The book retails at just €20 and and is available from local shops and by emailing wearetheharps@gmail.com
