Ballybofey singer-songwriter Shauna Scanlon is marking a career milestone with a week-long feature on national radio.

Shauna’s sophomore release, ‘If I Knew’ has been chosen as the grassroots pick of the week by Beta Da Silva on RTE 2FM.

“Never did I expect to be played on 2FM when I started writing music and I am over the moon,” Shauna said.

“If I Knew will be played all week on the new music show from 7pm so tune in to hear it.”

‘If I Knew’ follows the huge success of Shauna’s first song ‘Homebird’ which cemented her as a ‘one to watch’ in the Irish music scene. Both will be included on her upcoming EP which will be released shortly.

The Irish teacher has been singing and playing piano from a young age and honed her musical skills over the years, performing with the cover band New Romantics.

“If I Knew is an anthem for anyone who has been wronged by someone they trusted,” she explains.

“It talks about someone you know (a partner, friend or colleague) turning out to be the opposite of who you thought they were and regretting having ever met them. If I Knew is the perfect track to belt out in the car or in the shower and let out all your frustrations.”

The track is described as a refreshingly modern take on seventies funk, featuring a toe-tapping slap bass from Donegal musician Adam Ayres. Shauna’s powerful vocals give the track a neo-soul vibe while all elements are pulled together by producer Callum ‘Gordo’ Gordon.
