A new HSE Day Care Centre for older people will be ready by the autumn for those in the Lifford area.
The new Habinteg facility will be located at Ballyduff Park in the border town and will comprise a HSE Day Care Centre for older people living in the catchment area.
The new centre will consist of a large day room, kitchen, office area, staff changing facility and an ancillary space.
Catering will be provided for Day Care clients in a fully equipped Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HAACP) kitchen and Meals on Wheels will be provided for the wider community.
Transport is currently being planned with SITT to transport clients from their homes to the day centre.
All Public Health Nurses in the East Community Healthcare Network are being consulted in relation to referring suitable clients for the Day Care centre and this will be reviewed by the Director of Nursing attached to the catchment area.
When up and running the Habinteg facility has capacity to cater for 15-20 clients per day.
A range of activities will be provided for clients to include daily exercises, music, bingo, arts and crafts and dance. Guest speakers will be invited to attend, such as Community Garda Liaison Officer and Safeguarding teams.
Frank Morrison, Head of Service Older Persons, CH CDLMS said “It is anticipated that the Habinteg building will be ready for the delivery of Day Services to older people in the Lifford catchment area by the end of September 2024. The HSE looks forward to delivering these services to older people in the Lifford area.”
