Gardaí from the Donegal Division have paid tribute to their late colleague, Sgt Paul Reid, on the 29th anniversary of his passing.

The Letterkenny-based Garda passed away on this day, May 18th, 29 years ago in Sarajevo.

Donegal Gardaí marked the anniversary of Sgt Reid’s passing on social media today.

He was part of a patrol carrying out peace monitoring duties at Sarajevo Airport in Bosnia, when the vehicle he and his colleague Garda Phillip Carr were travelling in was hit by a sniper bullet.

The vehicle subsequently lost control and crashed, killing Sgt Reid.
