There was a great turnout of almost 100 runners and walkers for the Ayr Hill National School 5k in Ramelton on Thursday evening.

Declan Ferry of Rosses AC was first home in a time of 15:09, Milford AC’s Joe Gibbons took second with 17minutes.

Rosses AC’s Bernie Boyle won the women’s prize after finishing in 18:56 and she was followed in second by clubmate Cathy Breslin in a speedy 21:37.

The school said: “Ayr Hill would like to thank our fantastic parents and children, staff, local club athletes and the wider community for coming and supporting our 5K FunRun this evening. Well done and congratulations to all our prize winners.

“A big “Thank You” to our parents who marshalled the route, helped with registration, collected sponsorship and prize donations in recent weeks and who provided and served the tea and treats this evening. We couldn’t do it without you all.

“Many thanks to Maria and Jonny, our BOM parent reps for all their help in organising the event.

“A massive thank you to all the local businesses in Ramelton and Letterkenny who very kindly donated prizes or gave cash donations. We really appreciate your support!

“Thank you to Herbie McDaid for the organisation of the chip timing.”
